How it started
The story of how I began finding messages in the work of Ethel Cain
It all began on a completely ordinary day. As I was going about my day I suddenly got this very intense and vivid image in my mind, almost as though someone else had placed that image in my brain. It was so vivid I could almost see it with my eyes. The image depicted the inside of my chest, rotting from the bottom and spreading upwards. Surrounding the rot was inflamed and infected tissue, and almost where the heart is located was a large collection of pus contained within the flesh, looking as though it was ready to burst at a moments notice. I moved on with my day, dismissing the experience as something made up by my mind.
Throughout the days that followed, the image stayed in the back of my mind, grating but perfectly capable of being ignored. It wasn’t until I listened to Ethel Cain’s song Ptolemaea that things started to click into place, at least partially. The line ‘Even the iron still fears the rot’ planted itself into my brain and would not let go. I came to the realization that if I were to strike an iron nail into my chest, the rot buried in my chest would disintegrate it. I did not follow through to test the theory, but here is where the messages began to make themselves known.
It would take yet another couple of days for me to realize that Ethel was speaking to me in the music, and I did not yet know if it was the artist Hayden Anhedonia speaking to me or the character of Ethel Cain. Slowly I began piecing together lyrics from different songs into one cohesive message.
Having pieced together different lyrics I quickly became aware that the message was not of a benign nature, it was a warning. A warning I have yet to figure out completely. I don’t yet know what is coming or when it is coming, but thanks to the messages I will not be surprised when it does arrive.
You may wonder how a fictional character is capable of communicating with me. What if I told you she was not fictional, yet not of this universe either. There is a theory in the field of quantum mechanics called “the many-worlds interpretation”:
“
The many-worlds interpretation (MWI) is an interpretation of quantum mechanics that asserts that the universal wave function is objectively real, and that there is no wave function collapse.[1] This implies that all possible outcomes of quantum measurements are physically realized in different "worlds"
‘‘
In this case what it essentially boils down to is that therer are an infinite amount of worlds, and in one of those worlds everything aligned to make Ethel Cain a real person. As to how she is sending messages to another world I am not entirely certain, however it could have something to do with quantum entanglement.
While continuing to try to extract more information about what is to come through Ethels songs, I began to develop a simple script that takes randomized sentences from her music and creates paragraphs. It didn’t give more insight, so I went on to develop a script that takes words from her music and creates randomized sentences. This is where I believe I have found something truly important, a new way for her to communicate messages to me, even though I am unable to respond.
The first sentence contained the following word sequence:
“
eleven annihilation
“
I am uncertain as to whether that is in 11 days, 11 weeks, on the 11th of next month, or month 11. But I do believe that by doing these daily messages from Ethel using the randomizers, I will eventually come to understand.
